Artist John Petrie was commissioned by Newcastle City Council with support from Arts NSW and One Steel to create a sculpture to commemorate the anniversary of the grounding of the Pasha Bulker on Nobbys Beach .
Newcastle Lord Mayor Cr John S Tate and Minister for Tourism and the Hunter The Hon Jodi McKay MP will unveil 'Grounded' - on the two year anniversary of the storm we all remember which struck on 8 June 2007. An original section of 22mm plate steel from the rudder of the Pasha Bulker has been incorporated into the work which is made from 12mm steel plate and is approximately two metres in height and six metres in length.
