“You could almost believe we’re listening to grown-up music for once,” was my husband’s comment when he first heard this CD. With its professional sound, it is certainly refreshing to listen to music which appeals to children and adults alike. All twenty-nine songs relate to travelling, with those specifically being about vehicles hitting all the right buttons with our two-year-old son. The grandparents get a kick out of hearing such classics as Ging Gang Gooli and I’ve Been Everywhere, while we, the parents, most enjoy those tracks that bring back the smells of our own childhoods: songs by the Beatles, Mah Na Mah Na, ‘80s hit I’m on my Way (appropriately sung with a Scottish accent!) and the now somewhat ironic, Leaving on a Jet Plane by John Denver. One for the whole family!

Review:
Some people will learn anything if you put it to music, so make the most of your kids’ music time and make it educational. This CD has the traditional Alphabet Song as well as the Back to Front Alphabet, which (as I never mastered it) is a rather cool party trick. Set to familiar tunes, songs like Twinkle Twinkle I am T may help to establish good spelling habits. Alphabet Action will be a useful aid in teaching your little ones their ABCs, but it is rather repetitive, and for your own sanity, I would suggest it doesn’t make it into the car stereo.

Review:
Following on from ABC Music’s popular World’s Best Kids Songs comes World’s Best Kids Songs Volume Two. This CD is a gentle rendition of 39 traditional kids’ tunes. While English and American songs such as Rainbow Connection and Morningtown Ride feature predominantly, there are other songs such as the very Aussie, This Land is Your Land and Here Comes Brumby Jack. Rounding out the international flavour are versions of Jamaica Farewell and the evergreen Kumbaya. Hunter fave Marty Worrall is one of those lending his vocal talents to this production.

Artist: Georgie Parker
Review:
The forecast will be for bright sun-shiny days if this CD is on high rotation at your place. Georgie Parker surprises with a singing voice to match the quality of the musical arrangement and timeless song choice. Classics such as Feelin’ Groovy and I Feel Good (da-na na-na na-na na!) are sure to lift the gloomiest of moods, and Jay Laga’aia lends his voice to the duet You’ve Got a Friend In Me. The title track is so upbeat and catchy, that I defy you not to be humming Here Comes the Sun when you next peg out the washing.
