The Lake Macquarie Variety Playground will be closed from Tuesday 7 December for up to two weeks to accommodate expansion of the new playground. The existing playground and new circuit zone will be closed weekdays, but will reopen for the weekend at 5pm Friday and will close at 7am Mondays. Council’s Manager City Projects, Adam Wakeman, said due to the many people who use Speers Point Park and the playground the closures will be for weekdays only and it will be open on weekends. “Heavy vehicles will be carrying out extensive earthworks during this time making the playground unsuitable for use,” Mr Wakeman said. “The playground will be reopened as soon as the earthworks are complete. This facility is very popular so we appreciate the community’s patience as we work hard to build and improve the playground.” Other nearby playgrounds available for use during this time are: • Thomas H Halton Park - Macquarie Drive, Croudace Bay • Warner Park - cnr John and Lake Streets, Warners Bay • Nanda Street playground - Nanda Street, Marmong Point • Toronto Foreshore - Victory Parade, Toronto
