Review:
Fredrik is dissatisfied with blindly following the crowd, who keep on doing the same thing because that’s what they’ve always done. Not content just to dream the dream, Fredrik puts a plan into action to bring his vision to fruition (pardon the pun!) This story is a fantastic one for kids about creativity and problem-solving, but also operates on another adult level with a twist of mild humour. Orsini’s subtle yet stunning illustrations add an extra dimension to the book that will make it one you are happy to read again and again.

Review:
Our society is becoming more aware of the vital roles that other adults play in the lives of our children. Parents have the privilege of choosing people to fulfil the role of godparent, and also have certain expectations of them. This book explains the historical significance of godparents, different religious beliefs and expected roles and even has a suggested gift list. Haynes has written this book for new parents and for someone accepting the privilege and taking their role as a mentor seriously. From godparenting babies to teenagers, explaining ceremonial duties and even some practical and legal advice for guardians, Haynes has fleshed out the role of a godparent, making it both enjoyable and valuable.

Review:
Toby Jones is a 12 year old cricket fanatic who has discovered the gift of time-travel. A talented bowler and all-rounder, Toby and his best friends form the school cricket team. As the team works toward winning the championship, the friends stick together to protect Toby and his secret from being exploited by the adult world. Aptly named, Hat Trick contains three Toby Jones books in one. Brett Lee has given readers the inside edge with his list of cricket tips. Cricket fans will love this book, but the stories are well written and deserve to be read on their own merit.
